Private Garden near Hanbury Hall

Red Bear Landscape were really excited to be asked to work on a garden masterplan for this listed building and garden project with a national well known conservation and historic buildings architect.

Work commenced by meeting the client and ascertaining the possible extent of the landscape work which involved looking at the wider site aspirations as well as the possible future building plans which had started to be put together by the architect.

Some of the challenges were to 'think big and aspirational' about creating land art and sculpture with the context of the listed buildings and structures, taking into account a modern haha which split the site, and maintaining and building upon a considered structure for what was previously a courtyard to a group of farm buildings to create a kitchen garden and entertainment space. Other challenges involved the incorporation of existing levels around the building and within the context of a new natural swimming pool.

The design went through several iterations before settling on this one, which has recently been granted Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent.
